Andrew : How did the accident happen ?
John : Well, I was driving over that narrow bridge near Newcastle when a van suddenly came towards me very fast. I swerved to the left to avoid it, but I hit the side of the bridge.
Laura : I was thrown against the windscreen.
John : Not surprising. You weren’t wearing your seat-belt.
Andrew : What did you do then ?
John : Well, I called an ambulance and Laura was given first aid, then I rang up the police and they came to take my statement.
Andrew : Was there any damage to the car ?
Laura : Sure ! The headlight and the wing were smashed in and the engine was damaged.
